Why I’m Turning My Business on It’s Head

Why I’m Turning My Business on It’s Head

As we go through life, we reach what have been referred to by someone much smarter and much more influential than me as inflection points.  These are the times when something happens that so fundamentally affects us that every step and every action we take from that point forward is influenced by that event.

An inflection point.  Something has changed in your life, whether good or bad, and now you are faced with changing the course of your life.  Everyone comes to these points and it’s how we deal with them that truly define who we are and how we live.

I’ve recently come upon an inflection point myself.  On October 19th, 2011, my daughter came into this world.

Since then, nothing has been the same.  Everything has changed, and it has changed for the better. The only thing that hadn’t changed was my online business.

Let me tell you about my online business…

I first got serious about trying to make money online in 2006.  I started podcasting in May of that year and built up a decent following, I was even lucky enough to be listed as one of the top podcasts on iTunes in my niche.  Pretty cool stuff.  Then I heard about a presentation that someone was doing that would show you how you could monetize your podcast in 30 days.

I was hooked.  To know that there was a chance that I could make a living from something that I really loved doing was pretty exciting, so I went all in.  Over the next several months, I spent a ridiculous amount of money on training, businesses, ebooks, webinars, conferences, and the list goes on.  Over the course of time, I lost the vision of what I wanted to do in the first place and got caught up in the dream of the “internet lifestyle” that so many people are drawn into.

I then got into network marketing, which if you’ve been around this blog for very long, you’ll know that a lot of the content here is geared towards network marketing on the Internet.

Let’s just be honest here.  I’m not a network marketer.  I’m just not.  I don’t have the right personality to be really successful with it.  So, I’m calling it quits.  Now, let me be the first to say that this decision is totally a “it’s not you, it’s me” type of thing.  Network marketing is a fantastic industry and there are a lot of people that make an incredible living from it.  If you’re involved, stick with it.  You’ve got to figure out for yourself if it’s right for you.  For me, it’s just not, at least not right now.  Maybe it will be in a few years, who knows.

In all of this turmoil and change over the last  5 1/2 years, there was a shining example of what I could do if I set my mind to it.  I set up a little niche website on a subject that I was pretty interested in.  I never got a lot of traffic to the site, but it was enough.  I set up some Google Adsense ads and some Amazon affiliate links in different blog posts on the site.

For the first few months, nothing really happened.  Then, about six months after I set up the site and without even really knowing what I was doing, the checks started to come in.  Over the course of the next several months, that one little site brought in an average of about $550 a month and I literally spent maybe 1 hour a week updating it.

Let me emphasize the point that I really didn’t know what I was doing.  I didn’t know much about keyword research, SEO, getting backlinks or anything else like I do now.  And I was still able to generate over $500 a month from that site, just in Google and Amazon ads.

Let’s sit and think for a minute about what would happen if I had set up 10 sites like that.  That’s $5,000 a month, or about $60,00 a year.  My wife and I make just a little bit more than that together right now.

Think about what it would be like for you if you could basically double your income.  I’m not talking about making millions of dollars a year, I’m just talking about making double what you make now.  I know that for the vast majority of you that are reading this right now, you wouldn’t know what to do with yourself.  You’ve never made that kind of money before and honestly you have a hard time even trying to wrap your head around that number.

And it’s not even a lot of money in our modern standards.  But think about how much more comfortable your life would be if you could double your current income.  Now, if you’re already making 100k or more, your task is going to be a bit more difficult.  But, if you’re somewhere around the median American income ($44,389 in 2004), this is a pretty exciting concept for you.

So, I’m changing my business to what I’ve done in the past and always works and always will work for anyone with the time to learn a few things and to do some work.  I’m going to start creating a network of content-rich sites that build a passive income through advertising.  I’ll also be using affiliate marketing on these sites to sell products from places like Amazon, but also through affiliate networks like Commission Junction, Linkshare, and the Google Advertising network.  I’ll probably be using Clickbank as well to sell some info products related to the niche sites.

As part of my journey, I’ll be documenting my progress here on this site, plus I’ll be sharing with you what I’m doing to generate traffic and SEO strategies that are working.  I’ll also be posting a monthly income report.  I’m not doing this to pump up my own ego, I’m doing it to encourage you and to keep myself accountable.  I figure that if I tell you guys that I’m going to post a monthly report on my income from these sites that I better do a bang-up job of trying to actually make some money.

So, if you want to come along on this journey, let’s get going.  You can check back here to read the latest updates and find out what I’m doing, subscribe to my RSS feed to get the latest updates, or even subscribe to my email list and I’ll let you know what I’ve got new stuff to share.

How to Come Up With Cool Content for Your Blog

There are a few questions that I see people ask over and over again when it comes to blogging and I see a lot of the same answers. People always seem to be asking how to get more traffic, how to make money, and how do I get ideas for stuff to write about on my blog. If you’ve asked one of those questions before, raise your hand! :)

I know there’s a few of you reading this that are raising your hands pretty high. I’d like to answer one of those questions for you today, with hopefully a different answer that will really help you out and add some value to your business.

I’m going to tell you a little bit about how you can come up with more content for your blog on a regular basis. A VERY regular basis. As a matter of fact, if you’ll do what I’m about to tell you, you’ll be able to come up with something to write about EVERY DAY for the next year!

Crazy, you say? Ludicrous, you cry? Never fear, true believer, I’ve got just the thing that is going to help you take your blog writing content to the next level and get you more business than you ever thought possible. It’s a simple process to follow, but one that the vast majority of people will never stick with and that’s why they’re not having any success. But I know you’re not like that. You’re going to read everything in this post and then you’re going to take some action on it, right? RIGHT!

So here we go…

Step #1 – Set Your Blog Up. I’m assuming that if you’re reading this, you either have a blog or you want to start one. Great! If you haven’t got a blog up and running yet, you basically have two choices. One: start your own blog on your own hosting account. There’s a lot of benefits to this, mostly in that your blog is something you own completely. You control all the content, everything that happens is yours. Don’t underestimate that power of owning your own blog. I host all my blogs (yes, I have multiple blogs in multiple niches!) on Hostgator and have always been well pleased with them. You can get your own blog started today with Hostgator for only a penny if you’d like, just use coupon code MYBRANDNEWBLOG when you visit Hostgator right here. I won’t go into the details of getting set up with Hostgator here, but I will in the future. That’s your first option for setting up your blog.

The second option is to join the Empower Network and use their supercharged blogging platform that is already set up for you. Now, for those of you that don’t like technology and don’t want to mess with stuff and just want it to work, this is your best option. When you join the Empower Network for only $25/month, you get a supercharged blogging platform that is ready for you to just start blogging. Pretty cool, ain’t it? Free yourself from the worries of tech issues and traffic problems. Just blog. Join up now if you haven’t already.

Step #2 – Use a Blogging Calendar. I know you’ve heard before the old saying that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. This holds true for blogging, as well. I know right now you have all this jazzed up emotion and you’re ready to dive in and start blogging and you tell yourself that you’ll be able to blog every day with no problem.

I promise you, nothing could be further from the truth. You’ll be hot and heavy for the first few days, then you’ll fall off. You’ll drop back to blogging once a week, then once a month, then never. Unless, of course, you have a plan in place to create content on a regular basis. That’s where your blogging calendar will come in and be your life saver. And, since you’re such a cool person and you’re reading this entire post, I’ll tell you where you can pick up such a calendar for a really low price. So low, in fact, that it’s FREE!

Yes, each year, Lynette Chandler publishes a Blogging Calendar that gives you both ideas and a place to plan out your blogging for the next year. It’s pretty much the coolest thing ever and I really think every serious blogger should be using it, but that’s just me. All the cool kids are using it, so you probably should, too…

You can pick up your copy of the 2012 Blogging Calendar right here.

Step #3 – Take action. This is, of course, the most important step in this process of creating content for you blog. You can have a really cool personal blog or blog on the Empower Network and you can even have a cool blogging calendar, but if you don’t do anything with it, it doesn’t matter at all. You’ve got to decide that you’re going to take action and see this online business thing through to the end.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started today!

Empower Network Review – Should You Join?

You’re obviously on this page to get information and read an Empower Network review. Let’s not waste any time here and move right into the review.Empower Network review

Empower Network Review

The Empower Network was created by David Wood and David Sharpe, two marketers that want to solve many of the issues faced by new online marketers.

David Wood conceived the Empower Network because he was frustrated with a number of things, all dealing with the massive number of people that try to start a business online and give up in their first 90 days.

David wanted to create a system that dealt with the 3 biggest problems new online business people face, technical issues, commissions, and traffic.

Beginning at only $25, you can now access a system that pays 100% commissions, requires no tech knowledge, and has incredibly high traffic already.

That’s what’s so special about the Empower Network. Even if you’ve never made any money online at all, with the Empower Network you are now on an even playing field with every other marketer out there.

If you’re an established marketer, your results will come faster. The great thing is that even complete newbies have access to a platform never offered before online.

Getting the most out of the Empower Network is simple: 1)Blog Daily…. 2) Tell Others… 3) Make Money.

You will need a few other things to have real success with the Empower Network. You’ll need to set up a merchant account in the back office. Don’t let that stop you, the process is easy. They’ve provided a video tutorial to walk you through the process.

If you want to make money with the Empower Network, you must use this merchant account. This is how you’ll receive your 100% commissions. You’re almost guaranteed an account, they have a 99% approval rate. Don’t let this hold you back, I would sign up now.

The second thing you’ll need if you want to use the Empower Network to make money is the dedication to work the system every day. Without any work, you can’t expect the Empower Network to work for you.

However, with the tools and training that I’ve seen in the back office of the Empower Network, anyone that is willing to do the work can generate cash flow quickly.

Now that you’ve read this Empower Network review, I believe it’s time for you to take action!  You have the power to make a better living and start making 100% commissions.  Take action and join now!

How to Easily and Continuously Create Great Content

I’m really glad you decided to stop in and check this blog post out because today we’re going to talk a bit about how you can easily and continuously create great content for your blog. I’m pretty sure I don’t have to tell you how important it is to always be creating content for your blog, but if you’re not aware how important it is, check out this post on 3 mistakes that people make while trying to make money blogging.

Creating content for your blog will help you create a massive web presence, build your list, build your business faster than you ever dreamed possible, and convince people to just BUY EVERYTHING NOW and bring more money into your bank account, every day. But you’ve got to be consistent in your efforts!

The trouble most people have is coming up with enough ideas to produce content on a regular basis, so I’m going to help you today in three simple steps. Keep doing these things and you’ll never run out of fresh, exciting, and profitable content for your blog.

Step #1 – Always be reading. There’s a simple principle that states that whatever you put in is what you’ll put out. There’s a ton of people that can come up with a few ideas for blog posts, but they fizzle out quickly. If you’re reading other authors and bloggers in your niche, you’ll always be learning something. Read something every day, you’ll replenish your brain fuel and have more to give out to people in your own blog posts. If you refuse to read, you’re refusing to have a successful business.

Step #2 – Keep a growing list of ideas. This is really important for you to understand. If you don’t have a list of ideas to start with it’s going to be incredibly difficult for you to write anything, at least when you’re first starting out. Keep something with you all the time to write down ideas, whether you’re using a notepad, a legal pad, a journal, an app on your phone, whatever. You’ve got to have a list of ideas to start your blog posts with because there will be days when you just don’t feel like writing and you can’t come up with anything to write about. It will happen, I guarantee it. Keep that list handy and keep adding to it, you’ll thank me later.

Step #3 – Always be on the lookout for new ideas. As you begin creating content, you’ll begin to look at your niche in a new way. You’ll see ideas and opportunities for new blog posts appearing out of nowhere. As you surf the web and go about your everyday life, ideas will come to you. But only if you’re consistent.

Bonus Tip – Write something every day. You’ll only get better at creating content if you do it every day. I don’t care if you’re writing something for your blog or not, just write something. Even if it’s complete nonsense, write something. The best authors in the world write pages of content every day, whether they ever use it or not. The mere act of writing will make you better. You’ll step out of your comfort zone and build your skills. After all, don’t you want to be a better blogger? Of course you do! The better you become, the more people will just go ahead and buy everything you have to offer them without thinking about it.

Now that you know how to create killer content on a regular basis, why don’t you find out how you can get paid to do it, and get paid really well to do it? I’m talking about getting 100% commissions on everything!

Check out this video that reveals a commission “loophole” that these guys used to start making 100% commissions and how you can do it, too!

Make Money Blogging – Are You Making Any of These 3 Mistakes? (Deadly Stuff)

I’ve seen and heard about a million different people that have said that they want to make money from blogging. They’ve read the success stories of people that started part-time writing about topics that they loved or topics that they were experts in and very quickly were able to make a living from their blog. Leaving behind their dreary, unfulfilling jobs, they relied solely on the income from their blog to finally be able to live a lifestyle of freedom that many of us dream of.

I know you’ve seen these success stories and you’ve probably been inspired as well. Heck, everyone is! Who wouldn’t love to be able to work from basically anywhere and work whenever you want to, reach a global audience, and make a pretty incredible living all at the same time?

That’s my plan, and I’m betting that it’s your plan, too. That’s probably why you’re here reading this right now. You want to make money blogging, but something just isn’t clicking for you yet. You’re struggling to squeeze any money out of your work and you’re getting frustrated, fed up, disgusted and you may feel like giving up.

If you’re in that position, you’re probably making or have made one of these mistakes in your efforts to make money blogging, so let’s take a look at them right now and let’s get you moved past this crap and get you making some money, and making it quickly.

Make Money Blogging Mistake #1 – Not Blogging Consistently. I see more people do this than I care to think about. If you’re serious about making money blogging, you’ve got to blog consistently. And I know what you’re thinking to yourself right now. You’re thinking that you don’t know enough to blog every day or that you don’t write well enough. Believe me when I tell you that no one is any good when they get started, so just go ahead and get over that part of it. You won’t get any better until you start writing and writing won’t get any easier unless you do more of it. Start writing and start profiting.

Make Money Blogging Mistake #2 – Getting too caught up in the “tech” side of blogging. WordPress is a wonderful thing, but it can be a little technical to get things working the way you want them to. Don’t get caught up in that. You need to spend your time creating content, not worrying about installing the right plugin. Get someone else to set that up for you or plug into a system that is set up from the start to be optimized and leave you to create content.

Make Money Blogging Mistake #3 – Believing that you can’t really make good money blogging. A lot of your success is going to be based on your mindset and the preconceived notions that you have about making money. If you believe that you’re always going to have trouble making money with your blog, that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Believe that your blog can be a success. See yourself walking into your boss’s office and putting in your two weeks notice. See yourself having time freedom and actually loving what you do.

Now, if you’ve every made or are making any of these 3 mistakes while you’re trying to make money blogging…

STOP IT!

Simple enough? Good! Now let’s get to work and get you some money!

‘Nuff said,

Mike

P.S. Seriously, if you’re really serious about making money blogging, I can’t think of any better way to get started than by using this system that pays you 100% commissions on EVERYTHING! All you’ve got to do is blog and get people to the page so they can just BUY EVERYTHING NOW and you’ll see money deposited right into your bank account.
