I’ve seen and heard about a million different people that have said that they want to make money from blogging. They’ve read the success stories of people that started part-time writing about topics that they loved or topics that they were experts in and very quickly were able to make a living from their blog. Leaving behind their dreary, unfulfilling jobs, they relied solely on the income from their blog to finally be able to live a lifestyle of freedom that many of us dream of.

I know you’ve seen these success stories and you’ve probably been inspired as well. Heck, everyone is! Who wouldn’t love to be able to work from basically anywhere and work whenever you want to, reach a global audience, and make a pretty incredible living all at the same time?

Make Money Blogging Mistake #1 – Not Blogging Consistently. I see more people do this than I care to think about. If you’re serious about making money blogging, you’ve got to blog consistently. And I know what you’re thinking to yourself right now. You’re thinking that you don’t know enough to blog every day or that you don’t write well enough. Believe me when I tell you that no one is any good when they get started, so just go ahead and get over that part of it. You won’t get any better until you start writing and writing won’t get any easier unless you do more of it. Start writing and start profiting.

Make Money Blogging Mistake #2 – Getting too caught up in the “tech” side of blogging. WordPress is a wonderful thing, but it can be a little technical to get things working the way you want them to. Don’t get caught up in that. You need to spend your time creating content, not worrying about installing the right plugin. Get someone else to set that up for you or plug into a system that is set up from the start to be optimized and leave you to create content.

Make Money Blogging Mistake #3 – Believing that you can’t really make good money blogging. A lot of your success is going to be based on your mindset and the preconceived notions that you have about making money. If you believe that you’re always going to have trouble making money with your blog, that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Believe that your blog can be a success. See yourself walking into your boss’s office and putting in your two weeks notice. See yourself having time freedom and actually loving what you do.

If I had to go back and start all over again with my online business, I would only choose one method of marketing that business, and that’s blogging. Blogging gives you so many advantages over other methods, more than I can possibly list here. But here’s just a few reasons why you should be blogging and why the sooner you start, the more profitable your online business will be.

Be sure to read this list all the way to the end as you’ll want to see how you can start to make money blogging even if you’ve never made any money online before!

1 – You become an authority on your topic. When you start blogging, you become an instant authority on your chosen topic. No matter what it may be, if you’ve got the courage to actually sit down and write blog posts, people will look to you as an authority.

Network marketing is a great business model to get involved with and a great way to make a living.  You get to build a business on your terms, work with the people you want to work with, grow it however big you want to, and help other people to do the same.  I don’t know of any other model in the world that allows you to do all of those things at the same time.  However, I’ve discovered something about people that fail to achieve network marketing success:

No one ever really fails at network marketing, they just give up right before the walls break down and their lives change for the better.

When I think about all the people that have quit network marketing and I know how close they were to really getting the momentum going that they need to be successful, it makes me shudder.  Yes, it takes time to get your business off the ground.  It takes work.  Don’t let anyone tell you other wise.  There are lots of different ways to build this business, but they all require work.

But, so many people have fears that they can’t overcome and they quit just before they find true network marketing success.  Here are what I believe are the top 5 fears and what you can do to overcome them and move forward in your business.

Lack – So many of us, myself included, focus on what we don’t have.  We are constantly thinking about what we don’t have in our business.  Thinking about lack just breeds more lack.  The more you think about what you don’t have, the more stuff you won’t have.  It’s a simple principle that has carried through the ages.

How to overcome – Focus on what you have right now, no matter how insignificant you think it may be.  Start with where you are right now, not tomorrow, not 5 minutes from now.  This can’t wait, you’ve got to change your outlook now to make tomorrow a better day.

Rejection – So many of us are so afraid of being rejected by people.  We get so scared of hearing the word “no” that we won’t talk to anyone about our business.  And this produces no forward motion, frustrating us and causing us to quit.

How to overcome – Don’t worry about hearing “no”.  It’s just a word and it can’t hurt you, no matter how much you think it can.  Get past it and move forward.

Criticism – You’re going to have a lot of people criticizing you for what you’re doing.  They’re going to say you’re crazy and that you’re just wasting your time.  This can cause a lot of people to quit very early on in their business.

How to overcome – If you are surrounded by people that won’t encourage you, get away from them.  As a matter of fact, screw them!  They haven’t done what you’re doing and they certainly haven’t had any success.  If they had, they’d be rooting for you, not trying to bring you down.  Move forward and find some people that will support what you’re doing.

Failure – What can I say?  So many of us are so afraid to fail that we quit trying.

How to overcome – Failure is just another step in the learning process.  You haven’t failed, you just found another way not to get to your goals.  Try again.  And when it feels like you can’t try any more, try one more time.

Success – I know this one sounds crazy, but there are a lot of networkers that are afraid of being successful.  They feel like they won’t be able to handle the limelight, the attention, the money that success will bring them in this business.  They are afraid of becoming a leader.

How to overcome – Believe in yourself.  You were made to be a champion, to be a leader.  You were made to change your world.  Get out there and do it.

I know you’ve heard a lot of talk about keywords and doing your research when it comes to an online business.  But what you don’t hear a lot about is what I call “buyer’s keywords.”  These are keywords that someone is typing into a search engine when they’re ready to make a purchase.  They’re not looking for a review, they’re not looking to find out more information.  They’re looking for somewhere that they can buy whatever it is that they’re searching for.

So, how do you get in front of this type of person?  You have to know what people are buying.  Which is actually easier to find out than you might think.  Here’s a few things you can do right now to get more affiliate commissions.

Note:  this tactic is best used when promoting physical products.  It doesn’t really work with information products or anything having to do with network marketing.  And you can forget about it working with anything in the “make money online” niche.  Trust me, you don’t want to get into that one anyway.  WAY too competitive.  So we’re going to be talking about promoting items from places like Amazon, Commission Junction, or other affiliate networks that allow you to promote physical products.  These are so much easier to earn money with…

I’ve been online for a very, very long time now.  My first website was online sometime in 1997.  Yes, you read that correctly, 1997.  It was one of those pitiful little free websites from Geocites or something like that.  That was a long, long time ago. 

Even then, there was a way to make money online that anyone could get involved with, and that was affiliate marketing.  Affiliate marketing has been the ultimate way for anyone to get started with an online business for a very long time now.

A lot of people make a lot of money with affiliate marketing.  Even more of them don’t make squat.  Which one are you?

Maybe you’re just getting started online and see affiliate marketing as a great way to earn some extra cash.  After all, there’s really no start up cost and you’re not responsible for doing anything other than driving traffic to an affiliate product or offer.  Couldn’t be easier, right?

Apparently, it must be a lot harder than that since there aren’t more people making boatloads of cash doing it.  Why is that?

Simple.  Like everything else in life worth doing, it requires work.  You have to work at affiliate marketing to make money at it.  You have to learn how to drive traffic to affiliate offers.  You have to know what to focus on.

And you have to be consistent in your efforts.  If you just put up a couple of link on a website and then don’t do anything to promote it, grow it, or build it, you’re not going to be successful, plain and simple.

Sorry to be the one to burst your bubble, but this business does require some work.  But it’s not difficult work.  I mean, it’s not like you’re like the guys on Deadliest Catch or something…

Truth be told, if you can follow a blueprint that other people have laid out before you, there’s a pretty good chance that you can make money as an affiliate.  But if you want to make real money, like 6-figure money, you’ve got to follow a blueprint from someone that’s done it.  And continues to do it.

I always recommend Rosalind Gardner’s Super Affiliate Handbook as the starting point for anyone that wants to get into affiliate marketing.  Rosalind has been doing it for a long time now and is one of the best in the business.  If you will follow the steps in her guide, you’ll soon be on your way to making real money in affiliate marketing.
