OK, so you may have heard that I decided to order the P90x system for my birthday this year.  I figured it was time to get my big rear-end in gear and get in shape.

So, I sit down and start my order for the P90x system…

And it begins.

Now, if you’re in the internet marketing business and you’ve never ordered a product like P90x or some other infomercial-type product, I encourage you to do so, even if you don’t end up buying the product.  Get out your notepad and make tons of notes, ’cause there’s some good lessons to be learned here.

Now don’t expect to just order the product and go on your merry way.  No, not at all.  You’ve got to go through the process. Through the backend, the One-Time Offer (OTO).

And this is what many of you are losing out on in your online business.  You only have one product to sell, and that’s it.  No upsells, no cross-sells, no add-ons.

After submitting my information, I was taken to a page offering 3 additional items.  A pull-up bar, resistance bands, and a training club.  The price was discounted and would be billed in the 3-payment plan laid out for P90x.  Not for me, so I moved on.

Then, the next page was an offer for just the pull-up bar with free resistance bands for just a little bit less than the previous offer.  I almost took them up on this one, but I didn’t like the extra shipping costs.

3 more pages of offers met my eyes before I finally got the chance to hit the “checkout” button.

3 pages.

3 pages that could have possibly added another $100 to my order.

Just think how much you could add to your bottom line if you would just implement some type of sales process like this in your business.

Even if you just had one upsell, I know you’d see the difference immediately.  Strike while the iron is hot, put offers in front of your customers and they will buy.
