How To Use Twitter for Business

Ah, here we have one of the biggest questions of our current, digital age.

“How to Use Twitter for Business?”

And I know that there are more than a few of you out there that are thinking that you CAN’T use Twitter for business, that’s it’s just a waste of time.  You think that Twitter is quite possibly the stupidest thing you’ve ever seen and you have no intention of ever trying to use Twitter to grow your business.

O, sad little business owner that is stuck in your ways, you are sorely mistaken.  Woe unto you that ignore the signs of the times and choose not to use EVERY tool available to you to grow your business, even if it does seem like something incredibly stupid and a complete waste of time.

Twitter is most definitely NOT a waste of your time and can be an incredible tool for your business.

So, how do you use it?  Here’s some tips for you:how to use twitter for business

Tip #1 – Use Twitter as a broadcast platform. Since you’ve only got 140 characters to type, use Twitter to send short updates to your followers.  Now, you don’t want to send links to one of your products or a sale all the time.  Mostly you’ll want to provide value to your followers and build that relationship with them.  Your Twitter account shouldn’t be used solely for advertising your stuff, but if you’re providing VALUE to your followers you will earn the right to send them product links.

Tip #2 – Find new people in your area to start a relationship. Even when you’re marketing online, it’s good to have a local base of followers, especially if you’re in network marketing.  It’s easy to do local events and announce them on Twitter, maybe even have your own “tweet-up”.  You can use the search function in Twitter to find people in your local area.  Follow them and start building a relationship, you never know if you’ll gain a new business partner or customer.

Tip #3 – Get involved in the conversation. Twitter can’t be just about broadcasting your stuff.  If you really want to build relationships, you’ve got to get involved with the people you are following.  Participate in conversations, retweet, and engage people.  You want people to know that there is a real person behind that Twitter account, not just a tweet bot cranking out links all day long.

These are just a few tips to help you on how to use Twitter for business, but there are tons more in this free webinar that a good friend of mine did for our team.  I won’t tell you everything about it, just know that it will blow your mind what he’s been able to do with Twitter and you’ll be able to do the same.  Watch the webinar here.
