I don’t know about you, but I’m a little bit sick and tired of the way most network marketers are spamming up Facebook. I don’t see anything wrong with using Facebook to build your business, but you’ve got to draw the line somewhere. And if I see one more status update promising me that “$25 will bring you financial freedom” I think I’m going to be sick.
You’ve seen the hype, too. I know you have. You’ve been bombarded by everyone that you’ve never really met telling you all about how you can change your life with just a minimal investment. Once you join this “awesome” opportunity, they must have a guide that everyone has to read that tells them how to overload Facebook with messages and ridiculous claims.
I, for one, am just a little bit sick of it. I’m a little bit sick of seeing the same messages over and over again. I’m sick of seeing people abuse Facebook instead of using it the right way. I’m sick of seeing so many people turned off to this amazing business because some people just can’t do things the right way.
So, if you’re one of these people, or if you’re thinking about becoming one of those people on Facebook, marketing your network marketing business this way, here’s 3 ways that will GUARANTEE that you will tick people off and you won’t grow your business. Avoid at all costs, or if you’re doing them already, please stop!
Guaranteed Tick Off Tactic #1 – Posting the Same Messages as Everyone Else in Your Team
This just makes my blood boil. With some companies or teams, they must have a manual full of pre-approved Facebook status updates that everyone has to use. And it seems like there’s only about 3 messages to choose from. And everyone on the team is using the same messages, over and over and over again.
Get a little more creative and stop making every status post about your network marketing business.
Guaranteed Tick Off Tactic #2 – Blabber on about your business opportunity
You may think you have the best business in all the world. And, who knows, you just might be right. That doesn’t mean that all of your friends want to hear about it every time you post something on your wall. Learn to develop relationships with people. Remember, it’s called Facebook, not BizOppBook. There is a time and a place to present your business, and it’s not with every post on your wall.
Guaranteed Tick Off Tactic #3 – Tagging people you’ve never talked to in videos and posts about your business
You want me to join your business? Fine. Ask me in a conversation or email. Don’t start tagging me in every video and post you put up about your business. And don’t tag the “big guns” in network marketing just so you can try and steal some of their attention. That’s just dirty and will really tick people off, and it certainly doesn’t do anything to help your image.
You can use Facebook to grow your business, I do it every day. But, there’s a right and wrong way to do it and if you’re doing it the wrong way you’re not going to have much success. You’re only going to make people mad and convince them to NOT join your business.

Ha Mike
This is funny, You know, I just wrote a article just the other day that is talking about the same thing. I understand that these people are trying to get some recognition, but not the right type of recognition that is deserved. You will remember them alright, but only by them advertising their opportunity. Of course when they aren’t getting enough sign ups; you can only imagine what they’ll do next. Add MORE FRIENDS to see who will fall victim to the opportunity. That’s where the numbers game falls into place. It’s sad. But like you said, They may have a great business, but I think they need to ease up a bit and start using more creative ways of marketing and using other things to talk about rather than the business 24/7

@Steven,
You’re exactly right. I remember these people more than I really want to, and it’s because I’ve got their annoying updates running through my brain all day long. Sometimes I can’t even think straight! GRRRR!
Thanks for stopping in, talk soon!
Mike
We couldn’t agree with you more Mike! So annoying and unprofessional! People need to realize people join people, not businesses and ignore all the hype. Spamming and being unoriginal is not the way to go! Thanks for listing the wrongs and how to make it right!
@Brian and Felicia
Annoying is a mild term! I really wish that someone would get a clue and quit beating us all over the head with the same, tired message.
Talk soon,
Mike
Hey Mike, funny post and so true indeed but I gotta wonder, with so many people doing that cookie-cutter status message, does that mean it’s actually working? I’m like you, they annoy the heck out of me, so do those pop-up opt-in forms, and we all know how much they improve conversions…so I wonder if these annoying biz opp status message tactics were measured too….or maybe I’m giving them marketing savvy credits they don’t deserve.
Keep up the great posts and good luck with your system!
Patch
@Patch,
I gotta think that the preformatted messages have to be hitting some folks, but my GOSH are they getting old! Just an annoying tactic that I’m sure will eventually fizzle out in the end, especially when the same people see the same messages, over and over again.
Thanks for dropping by!
Mike
